2022 Island Inn Show

Joan Brady: Monhegan Still Life and Landscape

We are delighted to present the 2022 solo exhibit at the Island Inn on Monhegan Island, featuring the paintings of artist Joan Brady.

Joan Brady is an artist classically trained in the methods and materials of the Renaissance Great Masters.  Her still life compositions are designed and executed using hand made oil paints, often including 23k gold leaf, and resulting in stunningly elegant, luminous renderings of flowers and island artifacts. Landscape works in the exhibit draw on her experience of life in all seasons on Monhegan Island, where she has lived and maintained her studio since 2014.

Ms. Brady holds a B.A. degree from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts where she received the Phi Beta Kappa Prize in Art.  She earned an M.A.L.T. degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University, Baltimore, MD. She studied at the Schuler School of Fine Arts, with Zoll Studio School of Fine Arts, and at Baltimore Clayworks in Baltimore, Maryland.

Ms. Brady’s paintings are found throughout the east coast in the form of murals, trompe l’oeil, and framed works.  Patrons and clients include the Henry DuPont Winterthur Museum, Delaware; and The Hotel Hershey, Pennsylvania among many others. She has been a valued art educator and a popular guest lecturer, has appeared on Lifetime Television, and her work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.

The season-long exhibit will run from May 27 to October 10.

We invite you to join us at the Island Inn for a reception for the artist Wednesday afternoon, June 29 from 2 to 4 pm.
