Ralf Feyl

Lupine Gallery is delighted to present the 2024 Annual Exhibition at the Island Inn:

Ralf Feyl

Watermarks

Ralf Feyl, born in Chicago, credits his attention to detail and design to his early life with parents who were master craftspeople. Trained in figurative painting at Chicago’s American Academy of Art, he later moved to New England to continue his studies at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Connecticut. He has resided in midcoast Maine and painted on Monhegan Island over the past thirty years.

Known for his atmospheric, finely rendered landscape paintings, Ralf Feyl is most interested in conveying the impression the moment or subject made on him. Through use of carefully controlled palette and tone, he captures qualities of stillness, the power of crashing water, solidity of rock, the subtlety or drama of light.

The same quality of control and subtlety is used to contrast the gleam in the eye of a sheep with the texture of its wool, or the delicacy of a flower petal in a still life.

Ralf Feyl has over twenty solo exhibitions to his credit, and his work is found in hundreds of private and corporate collections across the globe, including Deutsche Bank, Frankfurt; Boeing, Chicago; Swedish Trade Council, Stockholm’ and Pfizer Inc., New York.

The exhibit ‘Watermarks’ will be on exhibit at the Island Inn on Monhegan from May 24 to October 14, 2024. A reception for the public will be held on Wednesday, June 26 from 2 to 4 pm.
